Work to improve access to Tipplers Passage, commencing December 2015 – Full details can be viewed on the Gold Coast Waterways Authority Fact Sheet, available to view or download here

New Manly entrance channel leads commissioned – The new leads are on the alignment of the new entrance channel centreline, after the channel was widened during 2014. Old leads will stay in place for a while until we are happy with the new ones. If there are any issues, the old ones may be temporarily switched on again. Tested sighting the new leads during daylight has been completed as far over as Green Island. The new leads are LED, so appear different from the old sodium daylight leads. The new ones are whiter.  Night leads are blue still but also LED rather than fluro – so may appear different as well. The new leads are equal or better in horizontal sensitivity to the old ones. The closer the front lead to you, the more sensitive and the new one is marginally closer to the entrance. The further away the rear lead is, the more sensitive horizontally, and the new lead is a block further away – on a street corner a block back from the Manly hotel.
Any feedback welcome to Roger Priest, Manager (Boating Infrastructure) Department of Transport and Main Roads P: (07) 3066 3781.

Navigating the Shipping Channels

We have over 40 km of shared shipping channel in Moreton Bay and these channels are used by thousands of recreational vessels, hundreds of commercial ships and an increasing number of tourist liners each year, you will be given all the appropriate knowledge on how to avoid these vessels.  Did you know that there are 5 virtual channel markers in the shipping channels?

You may also be interested in using our mobile phone app to log on via Boat Beacon. This will give you the added protection of ‘collision alarm’ with any other vessel using AIS. If you are a user of the shipping channels or plan to do so, this is a must.

MBTBC MARINA will only sell another 2 berths

Call George Davie, Chairman of the Marina Co Board for full details (no brokers involved) 0418731753.

This is the only club marina where the berth owner’s control their own destiny. The Marina Co holds the head lease, therefore, as a member of the Marina Co you have a say in the future. The first lease term is until 2044 and what happens after that with future lease extensions is the berth owner’s decision as a group, and no one else to dictate terms.

If you purchase to rent out as an investment, the Marina Co will guarantee that the six-monthly lease and Marina charges are covered for the first two years if for some reason the rental return is not sufficient. A fully rented berth currently returns approximately 4.8% after all costs.
