INSHORE FISHING GROUP

The Inshore Fishing Group, as the name implies is primarily directed at fishing within the confines of Moreton Bay. The group was formed in June 1990 by a small number of MBTBC members who fished regularly within the Bay and used the Club as a base to fish from. It became evident that this group had a common interest and that there would be much gained by meeting on a regular basis to promote our activities.

Our objectives are to foster the needs of club members who seek social interaction through shore and small boat fishing. Our group promotes the ideals of the MBTBC and is bound by its Constitution and By-Laws.

The emphasis of our group is on recreational fishing with a view of involving the whole family in our activities. Despite the march of time, Moreton Bay still has a great deal to offer the boatie who is prepared to join in and share their enthusiasm and knowledge. We have adopted an informal base but have developed "Club Ideal and Objectives" which are available upon request, for your perusal. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30 pm at the Club. Our fishing principles are based strictly on conservation, which is reflected at our Annual Trophies Night where presentations are made for the Heaviest Species only.

Boats and gear vary with the individual boaties, but it would be safe to state that all members' motors, radios and safety equipment would pass a critical examination with flying colours. This is due to our club's emphasis on training and our groups "Buddy" culture.

Our monthly outings are varied, and can include a weekend at the Club's Southern Haven, a day at Bribie or a family camp and barbeque at Somerset Dam. The group is also involved and supports the many MBTBC training, safety and social activities which our club in general promotes. The ISFG is self-motivated and our success can be attributed to those members of the MBTBC who love small boats and the pleasure, which is derived from our regular fishing trips.

It would be our pleasure to welcome any member to participate in our activities. Please feel free to attend our next meeting, perhaps our group is the one for you.
